Summary
- There are no accounts, no advertising, and nothing is sold.
- Your designs, sequences, and files stay in your browser. They are never uploaded to DnaOS.
- Google Analytics runs only if you choose “Allow analytics”. It stays off if you say no or your browser sends Global Privacy Control.
- A protein search in the Cargo panel is passed through DnaOS to the RCSB Protein Data Bank.
1. Who we are
DnaOS — DNA Origami Studio is made by Abhishek Kumar. For any privacy question or request, email analysemydata.in@gmail.com.
2. What stays in your browser
The origami studio, DAE designer, and 3D viewer run in your browser. They use your browser’s local storage to keep your work and settings between visits. This includes:
- your current design (autosave)
- day or night theme, panel sizes, and whether the oligo list is open
- which quick tours you have seen, and whether export tips are muted
- your analytics choice
None of this is sent to DnaOS or anyone else. It is needed for the site to work as you’d expect, so it doesn’t need consent. To delete it, clear this site’s data in your browser settings.
Exports (CSV, JSON, images, 3D models, oxDNA files) are made in your browser and saved straight to your device.
3. Analytics (only with your consent)
If you choose “Allow analytics”, the site loads Google Analytics 4 to count visits and see which pages are used. Google receives:
- the pages you open
- the referring site
- your device and browser type
- an approximate location derived from your IP address
It sets the cookies _ga and _ga_<id>. Google signals and ad personalisation are turned off. Google retains this data for at most 14 months, and may process it outside Canada, including in the United States. Google’s privacy policy applies to that processing.
Until you choose, and if you choose “No thanks”, no analytics script loads and no analytics cookie is set. If your browser sends Global Privacy Control, analytics stay off. You can change your mind at any time; withdrawing removes the analytics cookies.
4. Protein structure search
When you search for or load a PDB structure in the Cargo panel, your search text or PDB code goes to the DnaOS server. The server forwards it to the RCSB Protein Data Bank in the United States, then returns the result. DnaOS does not store these searches. Like most web hosts, our hosting provider may keep standard access logs (IP address, time, and requested address) for security and reliability. Please don’t type personal information into the search box.
5. Video, links, and other sites
The walkthrough video loads from YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain (youtube-nocookie.com) only after you press play. From then on, YouTube’s terms and privacy policy apply.
Links to other sites open those sites, and their own policies apply. These include:
- the external oxView viewer
- the author’s other tools
- Ko-fi
- publishers
Files you open in an external viewer are handled by that site, not by DnaOS.
Fonts are served from this site, so loading a page does not contact a font provider.
6. Children
DnaOS is a research and teaching tool and is not directed at children under 13.
7. Your rights
Under Canada’s privacy law (PIPEDA), and where applicable the GDPR or UK GDPR, you can withdraw consent at any time and ask about any personal information we hold. You can also ask for it to be corrected or deleted.
DnaOS itself holds no account or profile data about you. Analytics data is held by Google under a random identifier. Clearing your cookies breaks the link to that identifier. For any request or complaint, email analysemydata.in@gmail.com. We aim to reply within 30 days. You can also contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada or your local data protection authority.
8. Changes
We will update this page if what the site collects changes, and change the date above. If a change needs your consent, the site will ask again.
